New Jersey offers the highest mean annual wage for database administrators in the country, at $106,390. The New York-New Jersey metropolitan area employs the most database administrators in the country. Offering a mean annual salary of $102,850.
And more jobs are on the way. Statewide in New Jersey, the number of database administrator jobs is projected to increase 7.8% by 2026. In New York, that number is 13%.
Information Security Analyst
Applied IT plays a significant role in cyber security. That is reflected by the job opportunities in the New York-New Jersey area. New Jersey ranks second in mean annual salary, at $120,020, behind only the federal government workers in Washington, D.C.
The New York-New Jersey metropolitan area also ranks second behind Washington D.C. in the number of information security analysts employed. The mean annual salary in the metropolitan area is $130,360.
Job growth is spectacular in this area. The number of information security jobs in New Jersey is expected to increase 21.3% by 2026. In New York, that number is 28.1%.
Network and Computer Systems Administrators
The New York-New Jersey area is the largest employer of systems administrators in the country. More than 20,670 systems administrators work in the area. They make a mean annual salary of $102,300.
Statewide, New Jersey employs the second highest number of systems administrators in the country, with a mean annual salary of $100,220. While job growth is expected to remain flat across New Jersey, the number of jobs in New York are projected to increase 8.5% by 2026.
Those are three areas where jobs are rising for applied IT graduates in the New York-New Jersey metro area. The specific jobs can range from working directly for a company to consultancy, or working with schools, government agencies and nonprofits.
IT will continue to offer some of the best jobs in the country, particularly in New Jersey and in and around New York City. An Applied IT master’s degree positions graduates to have an edge on other applicants when competing for leadership positions.
